Fall 2021 Ten-Week Online Course

Tuesdays from 3pm - 6pm ET

Starts Sep 14

What does it mean to revise a play? We’re all told we must do it, but so few of us have been taught how to begun and what strategies to employ. In this ten-week writing workshop, students who have completed a draft of a play will learn how to develop a checklist of questions to ask about their completed drafts in order to identify the key dramaturgical issues that need to be addressed, create a revision plan for their scripts, and workshop revised scenes from their plays.

Along the way, we’ll do writing exercises that help us clarify our most important storytelling goals, such as identifying the central dramatic question of the play and our personal connection to the material, as well as do other exercises that help us deepen our work, clarify and dramatize our characters’ needs and objectives, imbue our work with physical action and theatricality, and execute more compelling dialogue.

The skills, strategies and techniques covered in the class will not only help participants re-vision their current scripts but can also be applied to all future plays they write.
