Emmanuel Wilson

DRAMATISTS GUILD EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Emmanuel Wilson

Emmanuel Wilson is the Executive Director of Creative Affairs and Membership at the Dramatists Guild. In this role, he oversees the development of strategic programming, communications strategy, and manages member service and member programming for the organization comprised of playwrights, composers, lyricists, and librettists. He comes to the position after growing the Guild’s membership, from 6,500 to more than 10,000, in his four years as Director of Membership and one year as Managing Director with the organization.

During his tenure at the Guild, Emmanuel revitalized the Guild's print and digital communication strategy, oversaw the development of the Guild's new website and database, rebuilt the Guild's membership department to focus more on member service, helped to diversify Guild staff, and made industry outreach a core tenet of the Guild's advocacy strategy. He developed and/or renewed partnerships with Blackboard Plays, #ENOUGH, The 24 Hour Plays, the Educational Theatre Association, Final Draft, and Theatre Communications Group. Emmanuel also developed the Guild's Young Dramatist initiative, which introduces the Guild and the profession of theatre writing to younger writers across the country. Emmanuel is a Theater Communications Group New Generations Fellow. This multi-year fellowship, designed to "cultivate and strengthen a new generation of future theatre leadership" was supported by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Emmanuel was formerly the artistic associate and literary manager at TADA! Youth Theater, and serves on the boards of Arts Workers United, Times Square Alliance, and The 24 Hour Plays.
