Summer 2021 Six-Week Workshop

Saturdays from 1pm - 4pm ET

June 26 – July 31

Whether we are creating characters as writers or as actors, being thorough in our inquiries of their inner workings is essential to building complex and textured vessels for our storytelling. In this workshop, we will analyze your own plays’ characters from an actor’s point of view, by creating a map of what makes these characters tick, conducting ‘interviews’ with them, and taking a deep dive into their objectives and obstacles, needs and flaws.

You will then (literally) step into your characters’ shoes, acting in scenes from your own plays in order to give you a new perspective on them. Working alone and in pairs, by the end of this class you will have new tools to mine the subtext of your characters with the goal of helping you coax out more and more specific details from within your story.
